Hello!
I am so excited about this blog, even more so than my other ones that I've been updating recently (I'll post those links below if anyone is interested).
My husband and I recently moved from the big city of Austin, Texas to a quieter life. A much quieter life. We are in Southeast Missouri, and are currently living on a beautiful 4-acre piece of property. The property has a garden and a chicken coop already built, so I'm going all in this Spring! I'll be working on a garden, but what I'm most excited about is getting chickens at the end of this month!
I am the kind of girl who wants to go all out. I have been reading and posting every day on the backyard chicken forum, and I'm pretty sure my husband is getting darn tired of hearing about chickens every.single.day. I feel like I know a lot more about chickens than I did last month, but I imagine it's kind of like having your first child. You can read all the books and get everything prepared as much as you can, but until you have a living breathing ball of fluff (I'm talking chickens, not babies!), you're not really going to understand.
I will be posting my adventures of backyard chicken-ing on here often, starting from getting the coop and the brooder set up and going from there. The sky's the limit! I hope you enjoy this adventure, and I mostly hope that we can learn and grow together.
Talk to you soon,
Britt
P.S. I put a lot of thought into this blog name, and I eventually came up with what you see now, The Three-Star Coopel. I'd like to think my chickens are going to see their coop as a lovely place to stay, maybe even their own version of a hotel. While it would be nice think that I'll be able to give them everything their chicken minds could dream of, I know that being realistic, the best I will do is give them lots of love and a safe place to sleep. While I could feed them fresh grown grubs from a silver platter on their roosts every morning, I'd rather spend my time inventing exciting DIY-things and just having fun. So, while my coop will likely not be a Ritz Carlton or a Four Seasons, it'll definitely be a solid Holiday Inn. Maybe even a Hilton. :-) Is it silly? Sure. Is it me? Definitely.
P.P.S. My other blogs are a cooking/random crafts around the home (faithscornerblog.blogspot.com) and a blog where I talk about Jesus and all the amazing things God has done in my life (livingfor2911.blogspot.com).
